What is School Choice?
DISD introduced Public School Choice as a mechanism for growing the range of options to ensure that all Dallas ISD students can attend a “best-fit school.” A “best-fit school” is a school where educators can more meaningfully and more deeply engage students intellectually by tapping into their specific interests, aspirations, and preferred learning styles.
Schools that are chosen as part of the School Choice program accept applications for students that reside outside of the attendance zone. As an Innovative School Choice school, Robert E Lee welcomes families that are not zoned for attendance via a transfer:
The Transfer Process
If you would like to attend Lee, but are not in our attendance zone, you will need to complete a Transfer Application. To request a transfer, please visit the school office.
Note: Innovation Schools will remain as Neighborhood Schools, only with a different academic model. Students zoned to an Innovation School do not need to do anything different from the standard DISD enrollment process. All students living within the attendance boundary for their Innovation School will always have a seat at that school at any point in the year. They will not need to submit an application. Non-zoned students may contact the school regarding enrollment.
