The Robert E. Lee Elementary Garden provides an excellent opportunity for our students to have a hands-on experience with agriculture and nature.
Students participate in every step of our vegetable garden: from planting and harvesting to preparing and enjoying the food. If you want to see your kids chowing down on some spinach (yes, spinach!) come on a day when they harvest the garden and get to taste the vegetables – they love it!
Bird and Butterfly Garden
The Bird and Butterfly Garden is teeming with carefully selected plants and flowers designed to attract local birds and butterflies. It provides a really fun experience for the children as they learn about the different species that are sustained by our garden.
Robert E Lee has partnered with the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension to demonstrate water-wise gardening. Our landscaping follows water efficient protocols, and the school garden was proud to be on the Dallas waterwise tour last Summer.
A special THANK YOU to our Master Gardener, Susan Flannagan, for her hard work to maintain the wonderful Lee Garden! We are always eager for volunteers to help us with our garden maintenance and harvest days. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please fill out this contact form with your information and we will let you know when volunteer opportunities arise!
